I90Live is on a mission to help you and your friends have better weekends by relaxing, dancing and/or rocking out to live music.
We also want to promote and support live music and the people and places that support it in Rochester, Winona, LaCrosse and all point in between.
There is plenty of live music out there, you just need to know about it and then get out there and experience it.
We are going to do that by providing an extensive list of live music events each week, in the most convenient way possible.
I have been around live music since I was a kid. I remember attending weddings with my parents when I was little kid and watching everyone having a good time. In my early teens, I remember hanging around outside of Rascals in Winona trying to sneak a peek through the outside windows hoping to catch a glimpse of the bands that were playing.
In my late teens and early twenty’s we would load up the car and head to the local arena to watch whatever national act was passing through and then head to the local bar to check out the local cover bands.
It didn’t matter if it was polka, loud metal or the hottest pop cover band, there was something about a live performance and the energy it created that kept me and my closest friends going back.
And if you have ever attended a live music event you know that there are very few experiences quite like it. Whether you are completely immersed in a live show at a large concert venue like the Mayo Civic Center or LaCrosse Civic Center, having dinner while a few talented cats pump out some smooth jazz or just forgetting a hard week and dancing your ass off with friends around midnight at your local bar, you know there is that extra something you get from live music that you don’t get anywhere else.
These days, and maybe it is just me, I feels as though some of the community and good vibes associated with live music is slipping away and I think our communities are missing out.
Not sure why this is happening for sure but beyond the demands of our hectic lives, there are a lot of options out there, the internet, XBox’s, sporting events, home theatre, etc, etc.
The local news outlets aren’t doing much to help any more. They used to do a pretty good job of promoting and providing a list of entertainment options in the area but over the past 5-10 years it has gotten harder and harder to figure out whats going on. And if we don’t know what our options are, then we are less likely to get out and go. Not good for you. Not good for the musicians and bands. Not good for live music in general.
Between work, the internet, and home entertainment it is easy to get wrapped up in our own little worlds these days. I feel it is more important than ever that we get out and connect with other people and I think live music can help.
I90Live was chosen because all of the bands and venues that will be listed are in the Rochester, Winona, LaCrosse areas and all point in between. Our little stretch of I90 is kind of what ties us all together.
The counties we serve, at this time, are Olmstead, Winona, Houston, Wabasha, LaCrosse, Filmore, Buffalo, Trempaleau, Vernon, Jackson (are we missing one? Let us know)
Check the listing, then turn of the Computer, TV, iPad, XBox or whatever else is chaining you down, get off your butt, call a friend and go live a little.
See you at the show!
